Kirby Insurance Agency, Incorporated is licensed to sell property, casualty and surety insurance products in the States of Alabama and Georgia as an independent agency business. The entity was founded September of 1963 by the late Clyde S. Kirby and operated continuously as a minority owned firm with reorganization as a corporate entity in 2001. Currently, the agency operates as a minority woman-owned corporate entity. Carol Y. Kirby the entity’s current President is a licensed producer; with forty-two years of experience selling and servicing insurance for commercial and personal needs. Clients, both business and individual, have entrusted the protection of their operations and valued assets to the care of Kirby Insurance Agency’s staff for fifty-nine years. The average account life of our book of business is 45+ years which is testament to the agency’s ability to sustain services and the confidence that clients have in our professional knowledge and ability to deliver responsive service. The Kirby Agency has been recognized as a “Most Profitable Agent” for underwriting and placement of risks resulting in very low loss ratios; and spotlighted in the national News publication of one of its leading carriers for the Agency’s opinion on standards of operation.

Founder
CLYDE S. KIRBY Sept. 1963 - Aug. 1980
Capitalizing on the wisdom of mentors and business training received from his experience as a Morehouse College graduate, Clyde Kirby began his insurance career as a Life insurance producer in Florida. He later relocated to join the Birmingham office of Alexander and Company Insurance Agency, training under John Drew. As his knowledge of property and casualty insurance underwriting and production grew, he took a leap of faith to open his own office as an independently owned insurance agency. The Kirby Agency then became the second P &C minority owned agency in Birmingham, AL.
